Matthew SpurrierHello! I am a graduate with a Bachelors of Science, Magna Cum Laude in Health, Society & Policy and a minor in Psychology.

My undergraduate degree in HSP was awesome. As I started school, I wanted to be a doctor and HSP’s flexibility and overlap with pre-med was perfect. As time went on I started my own NGO, MAJI. During my spring semester of my Junior year, I had a change of heart and wanted to venture into Management Consulting. Having an HSP degree helped me get my first internship in health care consulting at a local firm called Leavitt Partners as a Policy Strategy Intern. I pivoted from there taking marketing, business management, and other business courses housed in the HSP degree and ended up landing a job in full blown management consulting at a top 5 firm in the world: Oliver Wyman.

The HSP degree gave me the flexibility to pursue my passions as they changed over the four years of my schooling at the University of Utah, and [the HSP Program] was there every step of the way to make sure everything went accordingly. Looking back, there was even more HSP had to offer at the crossroads of business and health care and I’m grateful for my time at UofU as a Health, Society & Policy graduate. Go Utes!
